Well equipped Air Freight Department

Cardinal Plus has a skilled air freight department dedicated to handling a large volume of both imports and exports. The department can manage cargo to and from any airport in the UK at competitive prices and has the skill set to handle time sensitive cargo.

With container shortage expected to continue throughout the peak season, many clients are choosing to split their consignments between sea and air travel. The International Air Transport Association recently announced an increase of 34.3% for air freight demand compared to the figures from May 2009.

Latin American and African carriers recorded the fastest increase of demand with a growth of 58-60%. North American, Asia-Pacific, and Middle Eastern airlines experienced a similar growth of between 35 – 39%. Unfortunately European lines have struggled to increase demand but it is hoped that the weakening of the Euro will encourage outbound traffic with cheaper European exports.

It is clear from the disruption caused by the Icelandic volcano that aviation is vital to the global economy. With the coming of the new UK government, we have witnessed discussions of a future without dependence on domestic aviation deviating from policies and statements such as ‘a modern transport infrastructure is an essential for a modern and dynamic economy.’ With the banning of a new runway capacity in the South East of England and by taxing it’s users as much as possible, the government is acting in a contradictory manner.  This approach, which does not take into consideration the damage such a decision would cause to the UK’s economy, is definitely short sighted.

The International Air Transport Association recently announced Vision 2050, an initiative to build a common vision among industry stakeholders for a sustainable future for air transport. The four cornerstones of change are: sustainable energy source, regulatory regime to ensure airlines can operate as normal businesses, cost-effective infrastructure and services that exceed customer expectations. Cardinal Plus hopes for a sustainable resolution.
